Evening all,
Firstly I would like to say THANK YOU! Without the fans there would not be any shows and when people kept on giving and stuck by us last year we decided to go further and carry on into 2012...and all I can say is WOW!
The main subject for many was the queue outside - we could not have wished for this many people to arrive in a million years, our target for this year was a fifth of the number that arrived so in terms of how everything was prepared set out and accounted for (taking in previous show growth year on year) we went about our day - I want to say a huge thank you and well done to the team of crew and volunteers who work hard for the weekend of every single event! We can only apologise for those that had to wait in line but rather than turning people away and let them know it was "sold out" we decided to let people in who wanted to stick around, we did have a number of staff go down the line in intervals - this however could not be constant as we just did not have the numbers to cover this kind of queue as they were already enlisted elsewhere in the hall. We did what we could with what we had and I think the guys did awesome. There was a disgruntled member of the public who has set about some negative raves online after being escorted off the premises but I will say respect people working hard around you on an event of such a scale and do not use profanity towards any member of staff, if anything it is just plain rude and uncalled for - this decision was taken by the University and not ourselves though.
The guests were fantastic as ever and all have emphasised how much they want to return for our shows more and more - I think we showed just what we can do and you do not have to be in the hustle and bustle of London to bring the names in as the lineup was near perfection ;D
We tried something different with the Q&A panels this year but I think the excitement of some names in the signing area took away from the beauty of the talks and whereas last year they were booming with less attendees, this year the talks up until the final 2 still had empty seats, everything inside the Q&A zone has had nothing but high praise from both guests and fans.
All stalls this year had a great time over the weekend and have been asking us for next year's dates already..
It is clear to me now that we have taken that final step from being a new convention and there is still plenty to take in from the event - this year we have also seen just how far and how many people are willing to journey, even if it is to Sunny Wrexham in North Wales.
I cannot say thank you enough to the fans for the show of support we have had over the years growing and those who were with us from the start will know regarding the numbers etc that this was just crazy!
Thank you all for joining us this year and we will have the photos online soon to get them posted out for you
Now I can go and sleep for the Winter until organising the next one!
