Well the dust has finally settled on what was our biggest year to date and I have to say a huge thank you once again to all the fans that showed up and were patient under the conditions thrown at us, we are thrilled to tell you that we will be back on Sunday April 28th 2013 with what will be our sixth Wales Comic Con event ;D
There was plenty of debate around where the next event should be held and the majority of you wanted us to stay local to the area and our roots so we have looked at the options, there were a number of other venues "close" by but they just did not cut it in terms of size, scale, distance etc
After the success of this year's event we have been in deep talks and meetings with Glyndwr University and can announce we WILL be staying on the campus but this time we are taking over more than one hall!
This year sees us take over not only the Plas Coch Sports Centre but also the Catrin Finch Centre and we are pleased to announce that the Q&A panels at Comic Con will take place in the renowned 1000 seater William Aston Hall!
The event is taking a journey to be more than "just" another signing event and we have plenty of surprises planned along the way - of course we will have the usual signing sessions with guests but this year we plan to get more involved with the movie/tv industry, comics industry and also sports and activities throughout the day. We will have more food vendors on-site also to cater for various tastes and needs and are looking into the possibility of an outdoor (covered from the weather) seating area to relax and get away from the crowds, chill with a drink and something to eat.
Your safety is paramount with us though and this is why we are expanding the show into different areas of the University whilst still being within a stone's throw of each other. Many shows in America utilise this technique for the very same reason, and instead of being stuck inside a blue walled sports centre all day you can see the entire campus (do not worry we are planning maps and steward guides also on site to lend a helping hand and the University is also easy to access for fans who require disabled access) - we have some great facilities and functions available to us at the Uni and with great travel links (directly off the bypass/motorways), next door to the train station and free parking on-site there are many many positives to the stay.
I am sure this may bring in a mixed reaction from a small section of the crowd which happens with any public event but I am also confident that the majority enjoyed themselves enough last year and will do so going forward as we look to hold more events each year.
We will reveal ticket details shortly and have them on sale, they will also be sent out much sooner than last year to save any confusion between fans and organisers - earlybird tickets will also be made more readily available with us looking to at least double the number made for you to buy.
Hope to see you at the show! ;D
