We are pleased to announce that Mark Atkin will be making his first ever UK appearance at our Wales Comic Con in 2014! ;D Mark's biggest role is one where audiences are not meant to recognise him. Mark is the scale/stunt double for Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit trilogy directed by Sir Peter Jackson. Mark was chosen to double for The Hobbit's main character, Thorin Oakenshield, as played by fellow Brit Richard Armitage. To provide a seamless portrayal of the dwarf king, Mark trained with Richard to learn everything from his gait to his mannerisms to his timing. Mark's other work includes the 2013 New Zealand Opera production of The Flying Dutchman where he played a Ghost crew member. Mark appeared as Christopher Wren in the Wellington Production of Agatha Christie's timeless crime thriller "The Mousetrap", and he has appeared in a number of short films, including The Trap, Brother, Red, and Revenge; and TV commercials. Before his work on The Hobbit, Mark was a Police Officer and Detective for 15 years in England and New Zealand. Mark served as a Detective Constable in both London and South Auckland.
