Hey guys, I'm new to the forums and would like to ask a question I'm going to be attending Wrexham's comicon this year and wondered if we were allowed to bring replica swords. I am cosplaying as cloud and will have a full size 51" replica buster sword, which means that this thing is bloody heavy. I was wondering what the rules are for this kind of thing as I would like to attend in full costume and as the sword is blunted for theatrical/cosplay use would it be allowed. A buster sword is not exactly the kind of thing you can use to hold up a bank robbery. I would expect security checks at the doors and would gladly give my sword to someone to check over that it is indeed blunted and safe for cosplay use. I can't stress enough that this is merely for aesthetic looks and I will in no way (be able to) threaten or harm someone with it. Thanks a lot Charlie~

Yeah that's a good question and at least you've had the sense to ask well in advance! :] will look into it for you ASAP!

Hey, I saw this and figured instead of making a new post about a similar question, I'd ask here. I was wondering about the entry requirements for weaps too. I'm planning on cosplaying, and my outfit includes a bow, what are the regulations for bows? I know most cons require that they aren't strung, or not to load them if strung. Which is obvious really, haha. Just wondering if we'll be allowed to carry them at Wrexham. Thanks guys.

I have a number of bows for cosplay, but usually the rule is, so long as it isn't properly strung (i.e. replace the string with a loose elastic) and isn't fireable, then you're fine. I wouldn't bring any real or sharp tipped arrows either. My arrow heads are all foam, plastics and blunt, just in case! I'm guessing the same sort of rules will apply for WCC? I hope so, because I don't think my Legolas costume is complete without the bow! XD

Just wondering if rules have been posted somewhere yet? If not where will they be posted when they are? In this thread or will a new one be made? I'm hoping foam blades will at least be allowed.

Hye guys, I'll get on posting the rules now! Your sword will be okay as long as you're not waving it around etc ;D And Harry was correct about the bows/arrows. "so long as it isn't properly strung (i.e. replace the string with a loose elastic) and isn't fireable, then you're fine" Plastic shields and foam blades are perfectly fine!
